Both zones contain freshwater, upland, offshore, and estuarine habitats that support a wide variety of vegetation, fish, and wildlife. On the other hand, western hemlock grows well in the shade beneath the dense Douglas-fir canopy. The hardy Sitka spruce zone is where the coast influence of mild temperatures, winds, and dense fog discourages other types of vegetation. The forest is divided into two distinct vegetation zones: the Sitka spruce and the western hemlock. With the high rainfall and mild winters, the Siuslaw National Forest is a great place for a variety of plants to grow. I understand (I think) how reels and line works with the max drag etc. I understand the basic concepts, don't reel while the fish is running, change rod directions, etc. I'm sure I am doing something wrong but I can't figure it out. The fish are not strong enough to break me off at the max length of line yet I can't reel anything in after 10 seconds, they just keep pulling line out afterwards. ![]() I keep getting spooled by fish and it's not that my tension gauge goes up, it stays in the blue the whole time. ![]() I had no issues on any other body of water till I got to Oregon.
